Welcome to the official home of The Tuxedo Band! For four decades, we’ve been bringing the energy, the rhythm, and the unforgettable soundtrack to concerts in the park, weddings, corporate events, festivals, and celebrations of every kind. From timeless classics to today’s hits, our sound is as versatile as the venues we’ve played - big stages, small towns, and everywhere in between.

Let’s keep the music going.

Bob Wittman

Acoustic Guitar & Vocals

One of two founding members, Witty is the group's frontman, playing acoustic
6- and 12-string guitars with one mission each gig ... filling the dance floor, working the crowd, and keeping the band rockin’.

Dave Dean

Guitar & Vocals

Originally recruited as a fill-in guitarist, Dave's been playing lead and singing with The Tuxedo Band since 1991. He's an exceptional guitarist who brings a lot of emotion and energy, and big vocals. Dave can be seen playing solo gigs and sitting in on jam sessions throughout the area. He was a member of the wildly popular Schlep Rock, and former member of Three Car Garage and Vicious Fish.

John Hill

Drums & Vocals

John's been drumming in local bands since 1971, and brings an eclectic background of musical styles to his playing and singing. He joined the band in 2007, and is often in demand as a fill in on drums and vocals for a number of area bands. John also penned the band’s original song, “That’s Right,” an up-tempo blues rock song that depicts a man’s troubles with the law, but getting it right in life.

Rj Kaufman

Percussion & Vocals

Rj joined the band in 2007 and loves playing all the rhythm instruments as the group's percussionist, and lyric tenor vocalist. He's been performing for more than 20 years, including a stint with Toast, a Denver-based band that opened for Styx in 2005.

Dan Gunderson

Bass

"Gundy" has been playing bass for more than 35 years. He got the bug to be on stage after performing in Godspell the Musical at North Park College in Chicago. A disciple of the great Chicago blues players, Gundy is well known in the Twin Cities music scene having performed with a number of area bands.

Mark Ballard

Keyboard, Guitar, Electric Violin & Vocals

An original founding member, Mark retired from full-time playing in 2015, some 30 years after he first formed the band. A multi-instrumentalist, Mark couldn't stay retired for long. He's back with the band playing keyboards, acoustic and electric guitar, and the occasional harps. He's a great performer and makes every gig fun with a knack for unique song renditions.
